A Huntington Beach man is back home and nursing injuries after he was
hit by a car while riding his bicycle, said Huntington Beach Police.
Robert Michael Boozan, 70, was riding his bicycle north on Graham
Street just north of Diamond Drive at 10:33 a.m. Saturday when, for
unknown reasons, he turned left and rode in front of traffic and was
struck by a Ford S10 pickup truck, said Lt. Chuck Thomas.
Boozan suffered a fractured collarbone and fractured pelvis and was
taken to UCI Medical Center where he was treated and released, Thomas
said.
The driver of the truck, 23-year-old Huntington Beach resident Amir
Rezaee, suffered minor hand injuries that didn’t require medical
attention, police said.
“No charges were filed and I don’t anticipate any charges being
filed,” Thomas said. “There’s no indication that [Rezaee] was under the
influence of anything, nor was Boozan.” The speed limit in the area of
the collision is 35 mph.
There was no indication the truck was speeding, police said.
The front end of Rezaee’s truck was damaged as was the left side of
Boozan’s bicycle.
