Prep baseball: Vaqueros defeat Eagles
COSTA MESA - Estancia High starting pitcher Casey Gates blanked
visiting Rancho Alamitos for three of his five innings, but the Vaqueros
wound up with a 15-4 baseball victory Saturday in a Costa Mesa Division
consolation game of the Newport Elks Tournament.
“Gates pitched really well,” said C.K. Green, who assumed head
coaching duties Thursday after Doug Deats resigned.
Green also praised his team’s defensive improvement, which resulted in
only one error.
Senior Paul Flory tripled in Justin Lund to highlight the Eagles’
six-hit attack.
Estancia (0-3-1) visits Los Amigos Monday in it’s final tuneup, before
hosting Laguna Beach in Friday’s Pacific Coast League opener.
