Girls water polo: Hewko MVP in PCL

Corona del Mar High junior Christina Hewko, who led the Sea Kings

to their third straight Pacific Coast League title, as well as their

first CIF Southern Section Division IV crown, tops seven CdM players

recognized on the coaches’ All-PCL selections.

Hewko a two-meter performer who led the Sea Kings in scoring, is the

league’s Most Valuable Player. She was a first-team All-PCL and

first-team All-CIF as a sophomore and a freshman.

CdM junior Danielle Carlson, the quarterback of Coach Aaron Chaney’s

squad, is a first-team all-league honoree for the third straight year.

She was also first-team All-CIF her first two seasons.

CdM juniors Daniela DiGiacomo and Brittney Bowlus are additional

first-team selections. DiGiacomo was a second-team pick as a sophomore.

Representing CdM on the second team are seniors Jessica Fries, Alexa

Miller and goalie Jessica Wells.

CdM won its first outright PCL title this season, after sharing the

championship the previous two years.

The Sea Kings went on to defeat El Dorado, 11-6, to claim the CIF

Division IV crown.
