Boys tennis: Sailors edge El Toro

NEWPORT BEACH - Newport Harbor High freshman Dylan Espley-Jones and

junior doubles teammate Brandon Lufty won the final set of the day, 7-6,

to lead the host Sailors to a 10-8 nonleague boys tennis win over El Toro

Wednesday in extremely windy conditions.

Esply-Jones and Lufty swept, 6-2, 6-4, 7-6 to help the Sailors improve

to 2-1.

Sophomore Tyler Deck and teammate Zach Yeager also won two singles

sets for the victors, who play Fountain Valley today at Mile Square Park.

Heravi, 7-6; Deck (NH) lost, 2-6, won, 6-3, 6-2; Tweena (NH) won, 7-6,

Doubles - Davis-D’Eliscu (NH) def. Shumaker-Ivordberh, 7-6, lost to

Tran-Kuv, 1-6; lost to Kuboy-Kran, 2-6; Espley-Jones-Lutfy (NH) won, 6-2,

6-4, 7-6; Uhl-Lund (NH) lost, 6-7, 5-7, 6-7.
