Robert Frederick Stoessel, a former Corona del Mar resident, died

March 9 in Pacific Grove after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

He was 88. Mr. Stoessel lived in Corona del Mar between 1970 and 1981.

During that time, he served as the president of the Corona del Mar

Chamber of Commerce, head of the Orange County Fish Program and chairman

for the building committee of St. Mark Presbyterian Church in Corona del

Mar. Mr. Stoessel was named Man of the Year by the Newport-Balboa Rotary

Club in 1981. He is survived by wife of 58 years Alice Hager Stoessel;

and daughters Doris Stoessel and Marilyn Mathis. A memorial service will

be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Aptos.
