Misfits come back, claim 6-5 win
Mike Sciacca
The Huntington Beach Misfits, a girls’ 14-and-Under Division softball
team, fell behind early but battled back in the final innings and
recorded a 6-5 victory over Fountain Valley.
After falling behind 4-0 in the first inning, the Misfits finally
cracked the scoreboard when Elaine Johnson stole home in the second
inning. They took advantage of several Fountain Valley errors in the
third frame and used RBIs by Courtney Krueger, Alyssa Cooney, Elaine
Johnson and Ashlei Sanchez to score four runs and take a 5-4 lead.
Chelsey Coffman struck out six and gave up one walk for the Misfits
and Krueger turned a double play. Candice Byl and Caitlin Kagawa also
played strong games defensively.
