Chargers win streak at lucky 13

The unbeaten South Huntington Beach Chargers closed out the regular

season last weekend with three victories and now are setting sights on

this weekend’s National Junior Basketball Sectional tournament.

The Chargers are now 13-0 overall.

They began the weekend with a 72-44 rout of host Monterey Park. T.J.

Lipold led the way with 27 points, Casey Becker and Dylan Bowermaster

each finished with 14 points and Michael Hardwick scored 10.

The team followed that win with an 86-44 drubbing of visiting La

Mirada. Taylor King topped the scoring chart with 27 points, Lipold added

18, Thomas Marcin scored 14 and Becker and Bowermaster each added 10

points.

In the final game of the regular season, the host Chargers topped the

100-point plateau in a 104-61 win over East Huntington Beach. Lipold

again was the high scorer with 31 points, King had 21, Becker scored 19,

Marcin had 16 and Hardwick scored 14.

South Huntington Beach begins Sectional tournament play Sunday with a

3:15 p.m. game at Garden Grove high.

The National NJB tournament is scheduled for March 23-24 in Orange

County.
