Newport Beach Youth Basketball champions crowned

Over 200 boys and girls in grades 3-6 participated in the Newport

Beach Recreation Services’ Winter Hoops League. League teams participated

in a single elimination tournament on March 2 and March 9.

Winning teams in each age division will represent Newport Beach in the

Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation’s Orange County

Tournament.

Champion teams include:

*Andersen Cheeseheads (third- and fourth-grade boys) - Saahm Aresh,

Dillon Campbell, Jarrett Logan, Randall Nelson, Neal Ohara, Ale Pastre,

Miles Patricola and Tanner Trauthen. Andersen advances to Orange County

Tournament Saturday and Sunday in Garden Grove.

*Newport Heights Lakers (third- and fourth-grade boys) - Brandon

Booth, Dusty Campbell, Niko Hernandez, Cameron Holmes, Justin Jones,

Isaac Melo, Jeff Newman, T.J. Sawyer and Tommy Yriarte. Newport Heights

advances to the Orange County Tournament Saturday and Sunday in Garden

Grove.

Newport Heights Dunkers (third- and fourth-grade girls) - Tori Browne,

Mackenzi Campbell, Lauren Chandler, Lauren D’Ippolito, Morgan Fabian,

Danielle Healy, Emily Rosales, Alexandra Ruiz, Delaney Ware and Devon

Williams. The Heights’ Dunkers advance to the Southern California

Tournament March 23-24.

Andersen Sparklers (third- and fourth grade girls) - Caitlin Cobb,

Karissa Dempsey, Jenna Engstrom, Lauren Henry, Jenny Martin, Tamara

Parks, Emily Spindler, Samantha Stern, Amy Youngman. Andersen represented

Newport Beach in the Orange County Tournament March 9, finished third.
