Community college softball: Pirates blanked and mercied

CYPRESS - The Orange Coast College softball team allowed 11 runs in

the first inning and never recovered in a 13-0 loss in five innings to

Orange Empire Conference host Cypress Thursday.

The Pirates dropped to 8-9, 2-6 in the OEC, while Cypress improved to

19-0, 6-0.

OCC, which lost to visiting Saddleback, 9-1, Wednesday, returns to

action Monday at 3 p.m., hosting Riverside.
