College softball: Vanguard goes 2 for 4 against Hawaii-Hilo
HILO, Hawaii - The Vanguard University softball team grabbed two
victories out of two nonconference doubleheaders over two days at Hawaii
Hilo University.
The Lions (23-10-1) won the final game of the matchups, a 3-2 victory
Wednesday. Lindsey Dyer and Jill Ramsey earned an RBI each, while Lisa
Jackson led with two hits for Vanguard.
The Lions lost Wednesday’s opener, 5-4. And, on Tuesday, Vanguard won
the first game of the doubleheader, 4-0, as pitcher Gina Libengood led
the way with seven strikeouts and the shutout victory. Celina Camarillo
and Jessica Thompson contributed two hits and an RBI each. Vanguard
catcher Rachael Rolle also had an RBI.
Hawaii Hilo (17-4) answered with a win in the nightcap of Tuesday’s
doubleheader, 9-0.
