Angels use late rally to beat Diamondbacks
Proving that it isn’t over until the final out the Angels, who were
held scoreless for five innings, staged a sixth inning rally Saturday and
came away with a 3-2 victory over the Diamondbacks in Majors Division
play.
Hits by Michael Chairez, Jake Gordon and Kasey Crandall ignited the
rally and Chairez, Jess Hallford and Josh Schnitker scored the three runs
to cap the comeback.
Clayton Prestridge and Devin Huskins scored in the first inning to
give the Diamondbacks a 2-0 lead. Tanner Phillips doubled and Kord Weber
had a hit to lead the offense.
In other games:
Mets 8, White Sox 2
Shawn Stiffler belted a three-run home run and doubled in a three for
three performance, and he also pitched five strong innings allowing just
four hits to lead the Mets. Nick Mazzone also went three for three and
Ricky Marin and Fred Thomas each had two hits.
Michael Bogard tripled and Kyle Shibel doubled for the White Sox.
A’s 12, Mariners 1
The A’s used a six-run first inning to propel them to the easy win.
Alex Barnes and Paul McBeth each doubled and singled and Race
Parmenter doubled in addition to pitching a near no-hitter. The lone hit
for the Mariners was a big one, though, as Luke Patrick hit his second
home run in as many games.
Diamondbacks 3, Rangers 2
This time, the Diamondbacks were on the positive side of a sixth
inning rally as they rallied to beat the Rangers.
Dalton Heikka doubled among two hits, Barry Luke and Trevor Carberry
had key hits and Luke and Devin Huskins combined to throw a one hitter.
Brian Gianone had the Rangers’ lone hit while Sam Cassuci and Stuart
Chenier each scored once.
Angels 3, Mets 1
Tim Doupe pitched a complete game and recorded 11 strikeouts. The
Angels were led in the hitting department by Derris Douty with two hits
and singles by Adam Cutts, Erik Morentin and Johnny Olive.
Brian Schwartz went two for two, Tim Higgins, Nick Mazzone, Dave
Folger and Shawn Stiffler added singles and Dallas Scott scored for the
Mets.
