Track and field: Newport drops anchor on Irvine

NEWPORT BEACH - Jumper David Sprenger of Newport Harbor High was a

double winner Thursday in leading a strong Sailor contingent to an 88-48

Sea View League boys track and field dual-meet victory over Irvine at

Newport Harbor.

Sprenger won the long (19 feet, 11 inches) and triple jumps (41-7

1/4), while the Sailors swept the throws with Rion McKinney in the shot

put (49-3 1/2) and Jeff Marshall in the discus (136-1).

Newport Harbor also swept the non-hurdle individual running events

with Dartangan Johnson in the 100 (11.4), Adam Kerns in the 200 (23.4),

Peter Bas in the 400 (52.0), Noe Perez in the 800 (2:10), Alec Urtu in

the 1,600 (4:47.4) and Nick Miller in the 3,200 (10:25.5).
