Film festival reveals seminar series speakers
The Newport Beach Film Festival on Tuesday announced the lineup for
its 2002 Seminar Series to be held April 13 and April 14 at the Newport
Beach Public Library.
Experts from all fields of filmmaking will cover such topics as
screenwriting, directing and film music composing.
Writers Ken Nolan (“Black Hawk Down”), David Franzoni (“Gladiator”),
David McKenna (“American History X”) and Roger Schulman (“Shrek”) are
among the screenwriters to speak on April 13.
Directors, including Roland Joffe (“The Killing Fields”) and John
Waters (“Polyester”), will also speak that day, as will eight costume
designers and a team of production designers.
Speakers on April 14 will include directors Michael Lange (“Ally
McBeal”), Robert Butler (“Hill Street Blues”) and Curtis Harrington
(“Fall of the House of Usher”). Experts in cinematography, special
effects and film music composition will follow that day.
The seminar series is free but seating is determined on a first come,
first served basis. The library is at 1000 Avocado Ave.
