Trendy fashions for kids are in abundance at Children’s Place, a new
retailer at Fashion Island. The store carries its designs of affordable
casual T-shirts, jeans, pants, shorts, dresses, lounge wear, outerwear
and accessories for boys and girls. Clothing is organized well, so it’s
easy to find sizes for girls and boys sizes 4 to 14, babies 6 months to
4, and newborn sizes 0 to 12 months. The Children’s Place has more than
520 retail stores nationwide and is planning to have more than 600 stores
by the end of the year.
Fairview Developmental Center will have its annual Super Garage Sale
from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday outside the volunteer office at
Fairview Road, just follow the signs. Profits from the sale will go
toward special programs at Fairview, such as Special Olympics, Very
Special Arts and holiday parties, as well as Christmas and birthday
gifts. Fairview is home to more than 850 developmentally disabled people,

Missys in Costa Mesa offers needlepoint classes that will begin today
and Saturday and run for a six-week session, on either Thursdays or
Saturdays. There’s also a workshop on learning how to apply stitches to a
painted canvas from 8:30 p.m. April 17 or from 1 to 3:30 p.m. May 15. The
workshops cost $15. On Monday nights, there’s a stitching workshop open
throughout the year from 6 to 9 p.m. Custom needlepoint designs are also
available. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to Friday,

Macy’s at South Coast Plaza has invited Ernesto Esposito, stylist and
head designer of Via Spiga’s shoes, to its newly expanded women’s shoe
department from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Espisoto’s shoes for Via Spiga
are known for their vibrant and sleek designs. He will be in the shoe
department meeting customers and showing the latest spring styles from
Via Spiga. The shoes range in styles from flats to stilettos in a variety
of colors.
The Golden Truffle has gone all out on its menu for wild
mushroom/truffle week, which will come to an end Saturday. If you’re
crazy about mushrooms, you’ll love the samplings of wild mushrooms that
include crimini, chanterelles, bluefoot, trumpet de mort, porcini,
hedgehog, enoki, matsutake, portabello, forest, button, morel, shimegi,
lobster mushroom, wood ear, oyster and shiitake. The menu is all about
mushrooms and is too long to list. A partial list includes crimini
mushroom soup, fricassee of wild mushrooms with truffles, scrambled eggs
with black truffles and wild mushrooms, assorted wild mushrooms tempura
with ponzu, wild mushroom ravioli with mushroom marinara, prime miyagi
steak with smoked shiitake mushroom sauce and wild mushroom fettuccine
alfredo. Fresh truffles are available on all dishes. The Golden Truffle
