NEWPORT COAST -- Newport Beach police arrested actress Tawny Kitaen

after she beat her husband, former Angel pitcher Chuck Finley, during a

domestic dispute Monday night, officials said.

Police received a 911 hang-up call from the couple’s Newport Coast

home about 8:40 p.m. Monday, Sgt. Steve Shulman said. Finley, a 6-foot-6

pitcher for the Cleveland Indians, suffered cuts and bruises to his hands

and face after his wife beat him with her bare hands and high-heeled

shoes, he said.

“The incident happened in the car when they were on their way home,”

Shulman said. “But the call came from their home.”

Kitaen was arrested and taken to Orange County Jail. She was held on

$25,000 bail until released Wednesday on her own recognizance.

Shulman said it is not known whether Finley requested his wife’s

arrest, but said officers don’t have a choice but to arrest the aggressor

in a domestic violence case.

Kitaen, 40, was arrested on suspicion of inflicting injury on a

spouse.

Finley has been in town this week as his Cleveland Indians play the

Angels at Edison International Field of Anaheim.

Kitaen appeared with Tom Hanks in the 1984 film “Bachelor Party.” She

has also appeared in television shows such as “The New WKRP in

Cincinnati,” “Seinfeld,” “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys” and “Married

with Children.”

The celebrity couple have participated in several local community

events, including the annual HomeAid fund-raiser that raises money for

construction and renovation of shelters for the homeless.
