College golf: UCI golfers honored

UC Irvine golfer Mike Lavery has been named Big West Conference

Men’s Athlete of the Week, while UCI golf teammates Walailak Satarak and

Stella Lee share the conference’s weekly women’s honor.

It was the second straight athlete of the week award for Lavery, who

was sixth at the Western Intercollegiate tournament this week. The junior

shot 1-over-211 over three rounds, including a second-round 67.

Satarak and Lee shared medalist honors at the BYU Dixie Classic,

finishing 2-under par over the two-day, 36-hole event in St. George,

Utah. Both are freshman. It was Satarak’s third tournament title and the

first for Lee.
