Baseball: Woodbridge tops Newport, 12-2

IRVINE - Newport Harbor High junior center fielder Ryan Torrey went

2 for 3 with a double and an RBI single, but host Woodbridge defeated the

Sailors, 12-2, in a Sea View League baseball game Friday night at Windrow

Park.

Woodbridge starter Mike Peck, who improved to 5-0, struck out six and

walked nobody in five innings, while giving up three hits. Newport Harbor

fell to 4-15, 0-8 in league. The Warriors improved to 10-6, 5-2.

“I just want us to keep improving and I’M not going to stop telling

them what’s needed to improve,” Newport Harbor Coach Joel Desguin said.
