Community college men’s tennis: Gauchos too much for Pirates

COSTA MESA - Orange Empire Conference leader Saddleback College was

too much for the Orange Coast men’s tennis team, as the Gauchos defeated

the host Pirates, 6-3, Thursday.

Robert Chu and Allen Hoang won their singles matches for OCC (8-5, 5-3

in the OEC). Hoang battled in his match against Jason Efstathiou and won,

7-5, 7-5.

Saddleback improved to 8-0 in the OEC.

6-2, 6-0; Hoang (OCC) def. Efstathiou, 7-5, 7-5; Trepte (OCC) lost to

Grassini, 3-6, 1-6; Yanai (OCC) lost to Noroozi, 1-6, 0-6; Colero (OCC)

lost to Widtfeldt, 3-6, 0-6.

Doubles - Chu-Hoang (OCC) def. Mark-Efstathiou, 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (3);

Korac-Yanai lost to Romero-Noroozi, 1-6, 0-6; Trepte-Mahdavi (OCC) lost

to Grassini-Widtfeldt, 1-6, 0-6.
