Pony baseball: Cardinals crush A’s and Phillies

The Cardinals of the Corona del Mar Pony Division outscored

opponents, 36-9, providing victories over the Phillies and the Athletics

April 11 and Saturday.

First, the Cardinals cruised past the Phillies, 13-2, as Cardinal

pitchers Hunt Rychel, Kyle Schneekluth and Ryan Lance limited the

Phillies to two hits.

Alex Johnston singled in two runs in the fourth inning to break open

what was a close game. Jamie Kline slammed a two-run double in the fifth,

and the Cardinals went on to score seven runs in the sixth as a result of

five hits and three walks.

Roger Ramillon and Matt Loyd each collected three hits for the

Cardinals. Pitcher Mike McDaniel maintained steady play for the Phillies.

Two days later, the Cardinals scored four runs in the top of the first

and went on to defeat the A’s, 23-7. Schneekluth, Lance and Andrew

Dialynis had singles in the first inning.

The Cardinals scored seven runs in the fourth and 11 more in the fifth

to break away. Every Cardinal was credited with at least one base hit.

Lance went 4 for 4 and Johnston went 3 for 4, while Kline, Schneekluth,

Rychel and David Wheatley added two hits each.

Jaik Ballback and Matt Raiger each had two runs scored for the A’s.
