Boys volleyball: T-wolves sweep CdM

IRVINE - Host Northwood High earned a 15-12, 15-12, 15-13 Pacific Coast League boys volleyball victory over Corona del Mar Wednesday, but

CdM Coach Steve Conti was encouraged by the Sea Kings’ effort.

“Our whole team competed well and we had opportunities to win all

three games,” Conti said. “This was one of our better defensive matches

of the year.”

Kevin Welch (17 kills and 24 digs), John Grod (12 kills, 25 digs) and

Bart Welch (eight kills, 25 digs) for the Sea Kings, who fell to 5-3, 3-2

in league.

CdM begins the second round of league play at Laguna Beach Friday.

“I’m more optimistic now,” Conti said.
