Obituary
Aaron Evan Michaelsen, a Newport Beach resident, died Saturday. He was
40. Mr. Michaelsen suffered a heart attack on Saturday, just two days shy
of his 41st birthday.
Mr. Michaelsen was intelligent, interested in politics and loved other
people’s kids as much as his own, said his wife of 16 years, Anne.
“He was extremely honest, extremely hard-working,” she said. “I always
remembered what he said every day to the kids as they were leaving for
school: ‘do your best and keep your promises.”’
Mr. Michaelsen was born in Chicago and raised in Santa Cruz. He
graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Claremont Men’s College with a bachelor’s
degree in economics and a special focus in political science. He also
received a master’s degree in finance from the Anderson Graduate School
at UCLA.
His business career spanned 17 years and included executive positions
with Bear Stearns and Co., Duff & Phelps, Union Bank and the Bellport
Group, in addition to entrepreneurial ventures.
He also served as the president of the Los Angeles Chapter of Young
Executives of America, in which he was actively involved in Republican
politics.
In addition to his business and community involvement, Mr. Michaelsen
was actively involved with his children’s community youth sports programs
as both a coach and a mentor, and was an active member of Temple Bat Yahm
in Newport Beach.
Mr. Michaelsen’s friends and family have established a trust for the
benefit of his children. Contributions may be made to the Michaelsen
Children Trust at 1048 Irvine Ave., PMB 424, Newport Beach, CA 92660.
He is survived by wife Anne and four children.
