Jake Gordon threw the season’s first no-hitter in Huntington Valley

Little League Majors Division play this week, and the Angels added

another notch in the win column as they blanked the Rangers, 9-0.

Gordon struck out four while walking two in the complete game victory.

A potent Angels’ offensive attack included two hits apiece by Erik

Morentin, Johnny Olive and Derris Douty. Tim Doupe also doubled, and

Jacob Augeri scored twice.

The Rangers came up with their most likely scoring threat in the sixth

inning when Weston Stephens and Sam Casucci reached base on a walk and an

error, but Gordon shut down the Rangers the rest of the way to preserve

the no-hit shutout.

In other action:

Mariners 8, Mets 7

Shay Rousello and Karcher Morris each came up with two hits, and the

Mariners came up with just enough offense to subdue the Mets. Rousello

and Morris doubled and singled in a Mariners’ attack that also featured a

triple by Christian Slaton and a double by Drake Thorn.

Josh Reisinger tripled among two hits to power the Mets, and Nick

Mazzone and Tim Higgins each singled twice.

White Sox 15, Rangers 2

The White Sox managed 15 runs despite getting just six hits overall.

Chris Kindness, Kyle Shibel, Anthony Vidal, Pat Doran, Nick Refice and

Jimmy Miller each had key hits for the White Sox.

and Weston Stephens.

A’s 9, Angels 3

The division leading A’s pounded out nine runs on 10 hits as Paul

McBeth doubled and singled, Daniel Watt and Robert McKinley each had two

hits, and Mike McDougal scored twice.

Michael Chairez and Adam Cutts each finished with two hits, and

Chairez, Johnny Olive and Jacob Augeri scored for the Halos.

Mets 5, Diamondbacks 3

Huntington Hardesty had two hits, Dave Folger doubled to lead the

Mets, and Nick Mazzone and Shawn Stiffler combined pitching duties to

limit the D-backs to just three hits.

Devin Huskins doubled, and Tanner Phillips and Clayton Prestridge both

singled for the D-backs.

White Sox 11, Angels 0

The pitching duo of Justin Thompson and Jimmy Miller surrendered just

one hit in this victory, which also featured two hits by Michael Bogard.

The lone Angels’ hit came from the bat of Jacob Augeri.

A’s 7, Rangers 1

The A’s again racked up the hits, this time with 12, including a pair

of doubles by Race Parmenter and two hits apiece by Chris Ottens, Cody

Moran and Kyle Lueke. Parmenter and Alex Barnes combined on a

four-hitter, with Brian Gianone getting two of those, including a double,

to lead the Rangers.
