Orange Coast College dropped a 7-5 decision to visiting Santa Ana

in Orange Empire Conference baseball Thursday, dropping the Pirates to

10-8 in an up-and-down conference campaign.

The Bucs, 25-10 overall, let it get away early as Santa Ana scored

four in the first inning and led, 6-2, after 11/2.

Both teams had eight hits and played errorless ball

Donnie Murphy was Coast’s leading hitter with three doubles in four

at-bats, with two runs and an RBI. Ryan Marcos was 2 for 4 and Joey

Morrison was 2 for 3.

“We hit the ball hard all day, they just made some defensively plays,”

said OCC Coach John Altobelli, who’ll send his Bucs back to the field on

Saturday, at Santa Ana (11-7 in the OEC).
