COSTA MESA - The Estancia High boys volleyball team nearly stole a

third game away from Pacific Coast League visitor Northwood, which won

the match, 15-6, 15-7, 15-12, Friday.

Sophomore Josh Kornegay led Estancia (4-9, 0-6 in the PCL) with 14

kills, while sophomore Brad Larsen added five kills and four digs.

Northwood improved to 14-1, 6-0.

“We played very well against them, especially the third game,”

Estancia Coach Tracey Heims said. “(The Northwood coach) had his

non-starters in the third game and he had to put his starters back in. We

were so close to taking them. It was exciting.”

The Eagles return to action Wednesday at 3:15 p.m., playing at Corona

del Mar.
