Pony baseball: Mud Hens win big

The Mud Hens used practically every positive facet to post a 13-0

win over the Bulls, in Newport Harbor Baseball Association Pony Division

action.

The Cramer brothers, Nathan and Tim, led the Mud Hens’ offensive

attack with two hits and two RBIs each, while Andrew Skjonsby and Brendon

Salisbury added one hit and two RBIs each.

Salisbury struck out six, walked one and allowed just one hit in three

innings of work on the mound, and Nick Frazier struck out six in two

innings, walked one and allowed only one hit.

Frazier also had two RBIs after a walk and a hit by pitch.

In other Pony Division games:

Newport Harbor Storm 13, Costa Mesa Cubs 9 - Despite losing, the Costa

Mesa Cubs kept battling, trying to overcome a 10-run deficit. For the

Cubs, Tim Morley pitched for four innings and Matt Pisarski came on in

the fifth.

The Cubs’ Evan Van Geem chipped two base hits, while Nelson Leon, Evan

Spenser, Garrett McMasters and John Roche contributed singles. Matt

Pisarski belted a three-run home run and a single. The game was called in

the bottom of the fifth due to darkness.

Corona del Mar Dodgers 12, Costa Mesa Cubs 10 - Pisarksi crushed a

two-run home run, his third of the season. Cub sluggers Trevor McDonald,

Tim Morley, Nelson Leon and Andrew Whitaker pounded out singles.

Pisarski also pitched three innings, and Evan Van Geem and Tim Morley

came in, respectively, to complete the game.

Mud Hens 4, River Dogs 2 - Brendon Salisbury pitched a complete game,

striking out 10 and walking two, allowing five hits. Frank Muscatello led

the Mud Hens’ attack, going 3 for 3, including a walk-off two-run homer.

He also scored twice. Jose Gutierrez and Will Klatte each had a hit and

scored. Salisbury had a double, Nick Frazier had a hit and walked, and

Nathan Cramer doubled. Brice Stillman also had a base hit.
