Mesa stops University, 4-0
COSTA MESA - Tess Lindsay spun a six-hitter and shut Pacific Coast
League softball rival University down Thursday, 4-0, at TeWinkle Park.
The Mustangs, 15-7, 5-1 in the PCL, a game off Northwood’s
championship pace, struck for four runs in the first inning and Lindsay
did the rest, stranding two University runners at third to preserve her
fifth shutout.
Ann Marie Topps got it started with a leadoff single and stole second,
then advanced on catcher Lauren DeMello’s bunt single. A wild pitch
scored Topps.
Uyen Mai delivered a two-run single and she eventually scored after
stealing two bases before a dropped third strike got her home.
Lindsay struck out five and walked on, improving her record to 15-7.
The Mustangs are at Northwood Tuesday.
