Coldwell Banker jumped out to a four run first inning lead, withstood

several challenges by Quiksilver, then used solid defense and base

stealing in the sixth inning to post a 9-6 victory in Laguna Beach Little

League Majors Division play.

A single by Mike Rubel, double by Matt Boesche, RBI singles by Kyle

Caris and Willie Robinson, followed by an RBI double by Tyler Pierce,

ignited Coldwell Banker to an early 4-0 lead.

Undaunted, Quiksilver pulled to within 4-3 in the second inning behind

a two-RBI single by Sean Pigden and an RBI double by Richard Mattingley.

It took Keaton Jones’ RBI single in the third inning to bring

Quiksilver even at 4-4.

In the fourth inning, Coldwell Banker again grabbed the advantage when

the base stealing of the Rubel brothers, Evan and Mike, and Robbie

McKnight, gave them a 6-4 edge.

But Quiksilver again fought back to tie the score, this time at 6-6 in

the bottom of the fifth inning. A triple by David Brunner, coupled with

RBI doubles by Matt Perella and Will Marquette, evened the score.

Marquette and Pigden each finished with two hits for Quiksilver.
