Sailors fall in quarters

SANTA BARBARA - Newport Harbor had Clovis West on the ropes in the

quarterfinals of the Tournament of Champions at Santa Barbara High Friday

night, but failed to capitalize en route to a 15-13, 16-18, 15-12, 7-15, 12-15 boys volleyball loss.

“We were up, 14-10, in the second game and missed three game-point

serves,” said Newport Harbor Coach Dan Glenn.

As a result the Sailors are at Dos Pueblos today in the fifth-place

semifinals at 9 a.m.

Greg Perrine was Harbor’s kill leader with 28 against Clovis West, and

had 16 kills in the Sailors’ 15-5, 15-10, 15-9 first-round victory over

Dos Pueblos.
