College track and field: Anteaters get results

Three UC Irvine track and field athletes posted third-place efforts

at the UC San Diego Open meet which ended late Saturday night in La

Jolla.

Junior Tynisia Edwards was third in the women’s triple jump with a

season-best 39-4 1/2 and sophomore Jenny Liou was third in the men’s

1,500 meters with a time of 4:38.92.

Freshman Patrick Grogan was third in men’s triple jump with a mark of

46-5 1/4.

Junior Mike Nguyen was sixth in the triple jump (44-0) for UCI.

In the women’s 800, the Anteaters finished fourth, fifth and sixth.

Junior Tessa Candejas ran a season-best 2:11.51 to place fourth, followed

by teammates Cathy Picha (2:14.36), a junior, and sophomore Jenna Keith

(2:14.68).

Anteater sophomore Annmarie Turpin was fourth in the 400 hurdles

(63.79).

In the men’s long jump, UCI sophomore Joe Lourenco finished seventh

(21-7 1/4) and senior teammate Jimmy Onizuka was eighth (20-9 1/4).

Anteater sophomore Curtis Lehmann was eighth in the 800 meters with a

time of 1:54.61.
