Mets comeback does in Mariners

The Mets overcame a one run deficit by scoring two runs in their final

at-bat to defeat the Mariners, 2-1, in Huntington Valley Little League

Majors Division play.

Dave Folger singled and later stole home to score the winning run.

Tim Higgins doubled and scored two runs to pace the Mets. Higgins also

pitched four, solid innings of shutout ball.

Mike D’aleo had a single for the Mets.

Christian Slaton singled with an RBI, Finau Fiaseu singled and Karcher

Morris and Luke Patrick shared pitching duties for the Mariners.

In other games:

Rangers 3, Diamondbacks 1

Rangers pitcher Tony Ciarelli pitched a complete game, three-hit

victory to power the Rangers. Ciarelli also led the hitting attack with a

single, double and run scored. Trevor Briggs doubled and Nick Soresi,

Brayden Kent, Brian Gianone, Weston Stephens and Tyler Goodman each had

key singles for the Rangers.

Devin Huskins threw four scoreless innings for the D-backs and allowed

just four hits. The D-backs were led on offense by Clayton Prestridge,

Tanner Philips and Trevor Carberry.

White Sox 12, Angels 3

The teams needed extra innings to break a 3-3 tie and the White Sox

broke out big in the seventh inning, using five hits to produce nine runs

and the victory.

Justin Thompson tripled among two hits and had an RBI, Chris Kindness

singled twice and scored two runs, and Michael Bogard, Anthony Vidal,

Patrick Doran and Travis Hanley each singled for the White Sox.

For the Angels, Erik Morentin, Jacob Augeri, Julian Herrera and Kasey

Crandall each had hits and, pitcher Tim Doupe allowed just three hits in

six innings.

A’s 6, Mets 1

The A’s opened the second half of the season the way they ended the

first, by combining solid pitching and timely hitting to beat the Mets.

Alex Barnes pitched a complete game victory, scattering only three

hits along the way. Cody Moran led the A’s hitting with a pair of

singles.

The Mets’ three hits came from the bats of Dave Folger, Nick Mazzone

and Dallas Scott, who executed a bunt single.

Diamondbacks 5, Angels 3

Clayton Prestridge doubled, tripled and collected three RBI, Barry

Luke singled and Dalton Heikka, Daniel Smith, Rob Toth and Steve Shamoo

all scored to lead the D-backs to the win. Tanner Phillips pitched four,

one-hit innings and allowed just one run.

The Angels got hits from Erik Morentin, Kasey Crandall and Derris

Douty, who also had a pair of RBI.

Mets 7, White Sox 2

The Mets used six hits to score their seven runs as Dave Folger’s

triple scored two runs and Ricky Marin, Huntington Hardesty, Richard

Levinson and Dallas Scott each singled. Shawn Stiffler gave up four hits

in for a complete game victory.

Patrick Doran’s two-RBI double paced a White Sox attack that saw Chris

Kindness and Michael Bogard single.
