PacSun twice handles Clueless

Team PacSun of Huntington Beach Girls Softball took on South
Huntington Beach Clueless in two recent under-14 Division games and came
out victorious on both occasions.
In the first game, PacSun edged Clueless, 5-4.
The score was tied 4-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning.
There, Mallory Langford and Paige West started PacSun’s final at-bat with
consecutive singles, setting up Michelle Fuzzard’s single, which scored
Langford for the decisive run.
It was the second hit of the game for Fuzzard.
Mica Ayache pitched the first five innings for PacSun and surrendered
just three hits. Kara Rutkin relieved Ayache and allowed an unearned run.
Rutkin also made a key play in the game when she tagged out a potential
go-ahead run for Clueless as she tagged out a baserunner heading for
home.
Rutkin also doubled, singled and had two RBI, Heather Langner went two
for three and West finished with two hits and prevented another potential
run for Clueless with a big catch in left field.
The second meeting between the teams saw PacSun score a 7-2 victory.
Back to back doubles by Fuzzard and Rutkin in the first inning scored the
game’s first run.
Fuzzard, who went two for three, also pitched a complete game,
striking out 10.
Timely hitting was provided by Langner who singled and doubled and
Danielle Hoffman and Kayla Former, each of whom singled.
