Laguna test firm hits small screen

A Laguna Beach tutoring and test preparation firm hit the small screen

Thursday morning.

Cambridge Academic Services was featured on CBS’s Early Show during an

educational segment regarding Standard Aptitude Test test preparation.

CBS focused on the local Cambridge Colloquium’s ongoing SAT

preparatory classes, which offers early training beginning in the seventh

grade.

It is the only program of its kind and has produced significant

results, including two perfect 1,600 SAT scores.

Laguna Beach High School graduate Miles Jacob scored perfectly on the

test after being a member of the program’s pilot class of 1992.

Peter Bui was the colloquium’s most recent graduate with a perfect

score last May.

A number of other students have had composite SAT scores in the 1,400

to 1,500 range.

Cambridge, now in its 10th year of operation, provides math

instruction in arithmetic, algebra and geometry; verbal and language arts

teaching with critical reading, analogies and sentence completions,

vocabulary development and exposure to standardized test taking.

Cambridge also was included in PBS Television’s Frontline documentary

“Secrets of SAT.”

High school juniors will take the SAT nationally on May 4 and June 1.
