The last word

We don’t envy city council members. They have to attend some of the

dullest meetings imaginable, other meetings drag into the wee hours of

the morning and they’re constantly lambasted by their constituents -- and

us in the media.

But it lately it seems extra taxing to be on the Costa Mesa City

Council.

First, Mayor Linda Dixon lost one of her beloved pet tortoises. And

now we find out that Councilman Gary Monahan had his truck stolen from

out front of his pub. Sure, he got it back -- but would you want to drive

what’s been someone’s home for weeks?

It’s an eye-raising run of bad luck in City Hall. And you got to

wonder what’s next.

Think one of them will lose their home and not have a place to live?
