Angels survive Mariners, 1-0

A tense pitcher’s duel dictated the Angels-Mariners Majors Division

game at Huntington Valley Little League, which ended with the Halos

taking a 1-0 decision.

The pitchers on both teams yielded just three hits. For the Angels,

Michael Chairez and Tim Doupe combined to shut out the Mariners, allowing

hits to Shay Rousello, Finau Fiaseu and Nick Gialenes.

Justin Draeger went the distance for the Mariners and scattered hits

to Chairez, Casey Crandall and Erick Morentin.

Doupe scored the game’s only run.

In other games:

White Sox 9, Rangers 8

The Rangers staged a furious rally, coming back from an 8-1 deficit in

the sixth inning, forced extra innings, and lost in the eighth inning.

Chris Kindness doubled among two hits, Justin Thompson, Jimmy Miller

and Anthony Vidal each had two hits and Sean King doubled to power the

White Sox on offense.

Nick Soresi, Tyler Goodman and Sam Casucci each had two hits for the

Rangers.

A’s 5, Diamondbacks 2

The A’s stretched their win streak to 13 games as Cody Moran had a

two-RBI single, Drew Duffy and Danny Watt each doubled and Alex Barnes

recorded a complete game victory as he allowed three hits and struck out

six.

Diamondback hits came from Clayton Prestridge, Tanner Phillips and

Devin Huskins, and Dalton Heikka had an RBI.

White Sox 7, Diamondbacks 6

The first of two extra inning victories for the White Sox during the

week saw Justin Thompson triple among two hits, Chris Kindness and

Anthony Vidal each double and Michael Bogard score three runs, including

the game-winning run in the ninth inning. Clayton Prestridge doubled and

singled and Dalton Heikka had two hits for the D-backs.

A’s 14, Rangers 1

The A’s pounded out 15 hits in this one-sided win. Race Parmenter and

Paul McBeth each homered and doubled to account for five of the 14 runs,

Drew Duffy tripled, Robert McKinley doubled and Cody Moran, Danny Watt

and Chas Boule each had two hits. Parmenter also pitched a scoreless

three innings. For the Rangers, Weston Stephens doubled and Trevor Briggs

scored their only run.

Mets 7, Angels 1

Lucky No. 7 worked for the Mets, who scored their seven runs on seven

hits, led by Dave Folger with a single and two RBI, and singles by Fred

Thomas, Ricky Marin, Tim Higgins, Nick Mazzone, Josh Reisinger and Shawn

Stiffler, who also pitched a solid game by allowing one run on two hits,

singles to the Angels’ Erick Morentin and Johnny Olive.
