Youth Water polo: Newport teams win divisions, individuals shine

SAN DIEGO - Two Newport Beach youth water polo teams won their

divisions, while two Newport players were Most Valuable Players at the

three-day San Diego Cup last weekend, a water polo tournament for

14-and-under and 12-and-under girls and boys teams from Southern

California.

The Newport Youth A sixth-grade boys team captured first place in the

12-and-unders Coed division, while the 14-and-under Girls A team from

Newport Beach claimed the title, defeating ORCA in the final.

Newport Beach’s Leah Robertson was the MVP in the Girls A Division,

while Danica Kalmbach was an all-tournament selection.

Newport Beach’s Nathan Castillo was MVP for the 12-and-under Coed

Division, while Clinton Jorth was an all-tournament choice.
