3 elementary students win poster contest prizes

Three Newport Heights Elementary School students took home top honors

in a poster contest to commemorate American Home Week, which took place

April 7 to April 13.

The contest encouraged students to use their artistic abilities to

send a positive message into the community about the American ideal of

homeownership. It was sponsored by the Orange Coast Assn. of Realtors.

The grand prize went to Jarrett Milner, 9, of Newport Beach; second

prize went to Chanel Bedros, 9, of Costa Mesa; and Naomi Popick of Costa

Mesa earned third place. The students received $200, $100 and $50 savings

bonds, respectively.

Observed since 1952, American Home Week was established to celebrate

the constitutional rights of citizens in the U.S. to own private

property.
