Boys Golf: Corona del Mar golfers tee-off Thursday
COTO DE CAZA - Corona del Mar High juniors Tim Frohling and Nick
Sherman will tee off Thursday at Coto de Caza Golf Club in the CIF
Southern Section Individual Boys Golf Tournament, relocated Tuesday by
the CIF after play was postponed Monday because of a nearby fire.
Sherman and Frohling will tee off in a shotgun start at 2:30 p.m. at
the South County course.
Orange County Sheriff’s Department authorities evacuated players and
coaches off the course Monday at Tijeras Creek Golf Club in Rancho Santa
Margarita, the original site of the tournament.
Frohling and Sherman had completed about six holes before play was
suspended, said Corona del Mar Coach Mike Starkweather.
Monday’s scores will not be counted, as all golfers will start fresh
at Coto de Caza Thursday.
The top 22, and ties, advance to Monday’s CIF Individual Finals at
Canyon Country Club.
