The Environmental Board of the City of Huntington Beach is accepting

nominations for residents and organizations that have made outstanding

efforts to preserve, protect and conserve the community’s environmental

resources, as well as educating the citizens on environmental matters.

SATURDAY

The American Assn. of University Women, Huntington Beach branch is

holding an authors luncheon and silent auction. The guest author and

comedian will be Dan Barton. The event is on Saturday May 18 at 11 a.m.

in the Mandarin Restaurant, 18420 Brookhurst St. in Fountain Valley.

Proceeds will benefit the group’s nonprofit educational foundation. The

cost of $30.

Everyone is invited to the 2002 Police Appreciation Day Open House.

Activities include tours of the police facilities, displays from the

Helicopter, K-9, Traffic, SWAT Team and Beach Detail. Kids can get

fingerprinted as well as meet McGruff the crime dog and Officer Surf, the

In conjunction with Police Appreciation Day, the 2002 American Youth

The California Park and Recreation Aging Services and Activities

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 53 will be offering a

13-lesson course in boating skills and seamanship starting at 6 p.m., May

The American Cancer Society is urging teams to sign up for Relay For

Life. This is an exciting 24-hour event where participants will walk,

run, play, camp out, eat, socialize and otherwise have a great time

raising funds for the American Cancer Society. The event will take place

on June 8 at 9:30 a.m. at Golden West College, 15744 Goldenwest St. Teams

of 10 to 20 people pay a $150 registration fee. The goal for each team

The Huntington Beach American Legion Post 133 meets the third

The Huntington Beach Mothers Club has play groups every day for moms

looking to get together with other moms and toddlers in the area. The

The North Huntington Beach Mom’s Club Play group will meet weekly

The Moms Offering Moms Support Club, a nonprofit support group for

The Pacific Coast Mothers Club, based in the Huntington Beach area, is
