TODAY
The South Coast YMCA will celebrate National Older Adult Day with a
health fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 24. Events will include a variety
of free health screenings, health information, give-a-ways and free
functional fitness testing for adults 60 and older. The event will take

MONDAY
Laguna Beach American Legion Post 222 along with the Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 5868 will hold its annual Memorial Day Service. The
ceremony will start at 10:30 a.m. with a patriotic concert by the Laguna
Beach High School Band, followed by the formal ceremony. The short
program will conclude at noon with the raising of the flag to full staff.
The traditional pancake breakfast will be served. The event will take
place on Memorial Day, May 27 at Monument Point in Heisler Park.

WEDNESDAY
The South Coast YMCA will host a lecture by Hoag Hospital at 6 p.m.,
May 29. Find out what potential risks exist and how to help prevent them.
Presented by Karen Fu, M.D., Hoag family practice physician and Marcia

College Funding Solutions will sponsor a free college financial
planning workshop. The workshop will cover the correct ways to fill out
the form, discussing what assets are taken into account for financial
aid, how to develop financial plan for all the college costs your family
will incur and much more. The workshop will begin at 7 p.m., May 29 at
the Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s Drive.

The South Coast YMCA is hosting a free lecture by Brad Powell, D.C. at
noon, June 4. The lecture is designed to teach how to reduce risk of
injury while golfing as well as basic swing mechanics and exercises to

The South Coast YMCA will host a lecture by Hoag Hospital at 6 p.m.,
June 5. It will discuss the symptoms and methods for controlling

The Laguna Beach Women’s Club will honor Pauline Walpin with the Woman
of the Year Award. The annual luncheon will begin at 11 a.m., June 7 at
286 St. Ann’s Drive. New board members will also be installed. The cost
is $15 per person for prepaid reservations and members made no later than
Friday, May 31. At the door and without reservations, the cost is $17.

The South Coast YMCA will host a course that provides scientific
information for the implementation of fitness programs for individuals
who suffer from a loss of bone density. The class takes place from noon
