Costa Mesa Planning Commission Wrap-up

Here are some of the decisions coming out of Monday’s Planning

Commission meeting.

NORTH COSTA MESA SPECIFIC PLAN

WHAT HAPPENED:

Planning commissioners did some housekeeping Tuesday, just making sure

all specific plans for portions of the city corresponded to the general

plan.

Adjustments to the North Costa Mesa Specific Plan were made to make it

compatible with the city’s 2000 general plan. One amendment to the North

Costa Mesa Specific Plan was to adjust previously allotted trip budgets

to conform with the city’s general plan.

WHAT IT MEANS:

The North Costa Mesa Specific Plan now conforms with the city’s

general plan.

PROPERTY SALE

WHAT HAPPENED:

The Planning Commission unanimously endorsed the purchase of a

8.6-acre parcel of land on Redhill Avenue by the Orange County Department

of Education.

Planning commissioners must ensure the use of the land at 3001 Redhill

Ave. conforms with the city’s general plan before the education

department can buy the parcel.

Plans for the 8.6 acres call for six two-story buildings with 145,667

square feet of rentable space. The education agency plans to use the

property for management and administrative offices, or other related

professional use, a staff report shows.

WHAT IT MEANS:

The Orange County Department of Education is cleared to buy the

property.
