Mariners edge Mets, 1-0

Pitchers Karcher Morris and Tim Higgins put on strong performances for

their respective teams Tuesday in a game that went down to the wire. It

was Morris and the Mariners who slipped past the Higgins-led Mets, 1-0,

in Huntington Valley Little League Majors Division action.

Morris’ complete game victory yielded only three hits. He was backed

up by a defense that turned three double plays.

Higgins, meanwhile, went the distance and struck out 14.

The game was scoreless until the final inning, where Connor Baggett

led off the sixth with a single and later scored on a wild pitch.

Morris also contributed a hit for the Mariners. Luke Patrick doubled

and Adam Martinazzi, Christian Slaton and Drake Thorn all singled.

Nick Mazzone had three of the Mets’ hits and Fred Thomas singled.

In other games:

Angels 8, Rangers 6

The Halos pounded out 13 hits as they outlasted the Rangers.

Michael Chairez led the onslaught by going three for three and scored

three runs. Jacob Augeri collected three hits.

Erik Morentin and Derris Douty each singled twice and Adam Cutts

doubled.

For the Rangers, Nick Soresi, Brian Gianone, Tyler Goodman, Tony

Ciarelli, Brendan Ketchum and Weston Stephens all had singles.

Stephens also scored two runs.

Diamondbacks 6, Rangers 2

The Diamondbacks used a three-man rotation to subdue the Rangers.

Trevor Carberry, Clayton Prestridge and Devin Huskins combined for the

win by holding the Rangers to four hits total.

The D-backs were led on offense by Prestridge who singled and scored

two runs. Huskins, Carberry, Dalton Heikka and Barry Luke all singled.

Two of the Rangers’ four hits came from the bat of Trevor Briggs who

singled twice with an RBI.

Singles by Weston Stephens and Nick Soresi accounted for the other two

Ranger hits.

White Sox 7, Angels 5

The White Sox squeezed out their seven runs on just five hits, and

took advantage of miscues by their opponent to get past the Angels.

Chris Kindness and Nick Refice banged doubles for the White Sox and

Justin Thompson, Kyle Shibel and Travis Hanley hit singles.

The Halos got doubles from Jacob Augeri and Johnny Olive and singles

from Michael Chairez, Kasey Crandall, Erik Morentin and Jake Gordon.
