MONDAY

The Huntington Beach Coordinating Council will hold a luncheon meeting

officers will be conducted by Huntington Beach City Treasurer, Sherri

WEDNESDAY

The Orange County Chapter of the California Assn. of the Marriage and

Family Therapists will present a series of lectures on stress management.

The Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce will present “Enhance Your

Huntington Beach Tomorrow will hold its annual fund-raiser at 6 p.m.,

The American Cancer Society is urging teams to sign up for “Relay For

Life.” This is an exciting 24-hour event where participants walk, run,

play, camp out, eat, socialize and otherwise have a great time raising

funds for the American Cancer Society. The event will take place on June

8 at 9:30 a.m. at Golden West College, 15744 Goldenwest St. Teams of

10-20 people pay a $150 registration free and the goal for each team

member is to raise $100. Luminarias for the Mile of Hope Luminary

The Preservation Society of Huntington Dog Beach is getting together

to clean up the beach from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., June 9. Pizza courtesy

of Papa Johns will be served between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Check in at

the white tent on the bluff near tower 24. The closest parking lot is

north of Goldenwest, and the group will supply free quarters for the

Amnesty International Orange County will host the fifth annual Run for

Freedom 2002. This year’s run will be dedicated to bringing attention to

the current situation in Afghanistan and generating action for Rebiya

Kadeer, a Uigher businesswoman imprisoned in China. The 10K run will

begin at 7:30 a.m.; 5K at 8:45 a.m. and children’s 1/2K run at 9:45 a.m.

on June 15. The race will start and finish at Pacific Coast Highway

The Huntington Beach American Legion Post 133 will meet the third

Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Rodgers Seniors’ Center, 1706

PARENTING/FAMILY

The Huntington Beach Mothers Club has play groups every day for moms

looking to get together with other moms and toddlers in the area. The

The North Huntington Beach Mom’s Club Playgroup will meet weekly

throughout Huntington Beach parks. Playgroups will meet at 3 p.m.

The Moms Offering Moms Support Club, a nonprofit support group for

stay-at-home mothers, organizes daily activities for mothers and their

children including park play days, fun field trips and age appropriate

The Pacific Coast Mothers Club, based in the Huntington Beach area, is

actively seeking new members. The group offers stay-at-home and employed

outings just for moms, and volunteer opportunities that benefit local

and friends or those caring for the mentally ill will meet the second and

A support group for family members and friends of people with severe

or chronic mental illness will meet through Affiliated Counseling
