TODAY

The American Cancer Society is urging teams to sign up for the “Relay

For Life.” This is an exciting 24-hour event where participants walk,

run, play, camp, eat, socialize and otherwise have a great time raising

funds for the American Cancer Society. The event will take place from 9

a.m. to 9 a.m., starting June 8 at Laguna Beach High School, 625 Park

Ave. Teams of 10 to 20 people pay a $150 registration free and the goal

for each team member is to raise $100. Luminarias for the Mile of Hope

Luminary Ceremony may be purchased for a suggested $10 donation and

include a place on the bag for a personalized message. Information: Trina

TUESDAY

The South Coast YMCA will host a free lecture by Brad Powell at noon,

June 4. The lecture is designed to teach people how to reduce the risk of

injury while golfing as well as basic swing mechanics and exercises to

WEDNESDAY

The Laguna Beach Panhellenic Association will install officers at its

next meeting starting at 11:30 a.m., June 5 at Regents Point, 19191

The South Coast YMCA will host a lecture by Hoag Hospital at 6 p.m.,

June 5. It will discuss the symptoms and methods for controlling

childhood asthma. Presented by Denis Yoshii, Hoag allergy, asthma and

THURSDAY

Steven S. Sadleir, founder of the Self Awareness Institute will hold

meditation classes at 7:30 p.m., every Thursday starting June 6. Classes

will meet at the Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s Drive.

JUNE 7

The Laguna Beach Women’s Club will honor Pauline Walpin with the Woman

of the Year Award. The annual luncheon will begin at 11 a.m., June 7 at

286 St. Ann’s Drive. New board members will also be installed. The cost

is $15 per person for prepaid reservations made no later than Friday, May

JUNE 8

The South Coast YMCA will host a course that provides scientific

information for the implementation of fitness programs for individuals

who suffer from a loss of bone density. The class will take place from

The Laguna Beach Brewing Company will present, Rock ‘Em, Shock ‘Em:

Women of Comedy-No Whining Allowed. Seven funny females hosted by Lynn

AUGUST 7

The United Methodist Church will hold Scriptures on the Sand that

focuses on the book “Why Christianity Must Change or Die” by Bishop

Shelby Spong. The meetings start at 6:30 p.m., August 7. The group will
