Sounding Board -- George Margolin
Which city? Which constituency? Which world? You be the judge.
Which city does Libby Cowan work for? Is it Costa Mesa, which she’s
sworn to serve and protect -- or Irvine where she obtains her salary?
Clearly Libby Cowan’s loyalty is not for Costa Mesa, the city she was
elected to serve and protect. It’s Irvine -- judging from her recent
public outburst calling the ballot-box and lawsuit process stupid for
trying to protect Costa Mesa from a clear and present danger.
It is a fact that 68% of Costa Mesa voters voted against Measure W.
They know that John Wayne Airport will become a bloated cancer, engulfing
much of Costa Mesa, if El Toro is not there to serve South County’s
burgeoning share of air traffic growth. But Libby Cowan voted against
protecting Costa Mesa, then, verbally assaulted those trying to protect
it.
Which constituency does Karen Robinson serve? Is it the citizens of
Costa Mesa, who elected her to protect their interests, security and way
of life? Or is it the South County folks who did not vote for her, but
who she’s afraid to offend, because they “might” help her or stop her
from getting her long-sought judgeship.
Judge judge-hopeful Robinson for yourself, but it’s clearly not her
Costa Mesa constituency.
Which world does Mayor Linda Dixon live in? She seems to live in a
never-never-land of backward priorities. She vocally promoted the city’s
paying for a hugely expensive rehabilitation of a decrepit wreck of a
house of no historic value.
But, she has consistently voted against the best interests of her city
and against keeping her city from being devoured by the monster that JWA
will surely become, if El Toro is engulfed by Irvine’s greedy land grab.
Which city? Which constituency? Which world? You be the judge.
