HB Extreme wins title

HB Extreme, a girls’ under-12 Division All-Star squad out of

Huntington Beach Girls Softball, posted a 4-1-1 record last weekend to

win the La Mirada Tournament.

Behind the solid pitching of Brenna Klein, Heidi Chappell and

Catherine Wakeman, Extreme went undefeated through the single-elimination

bracket to win the event at Behringer Park.

In the tournament final, Extreme used exceptional defensive play of

their outfield, consisting of Tara, Heidi and Kellie Cuadras, and the

shutout pitching of Klein, to down North Torrance, 1-0.

Extreme began the tournament with a 12-2 victory over La Habra. Led by

the hitting of Erica Congelliere, Mariah Nogueira and Tara Barbish,

Extreme pounded out 15 hits.

Rebecca Sass, Cristina Kuehn and Stacey Schmidt came up with key

defensive stops in the game.

Timely hitting by Allyson Nunez, Clarissa Holz and Katherine Kent

helped Extreme defeat Fullerton Hills, 4-3, in semifinal action.
