HB Energy wins tourney crown

HB Energy, a girls’ under-12 Division team from North Huntington

Beach, won the 14th annual AYSO Memorial Cup Soccer Tournament held in

Downey.

The Energy shut out a strong Beaumont team, 3-0, in the division

final.

In five tournament games they outscored their opponents by an

overwhelming, 22-1.

The Energy made it to the final game by routing teams from Pico

Rivera, Hacienda Heights and Long Beach in pool play on Saturday and

Sunday. They followed those wins with a tense, 1-0 semifinal victory over

the Whittier Soccer Club.

HB Energy, out of Region 55, is coached by Mike Edwards and Maggie

Holland. Team members are Kristina Dague, Alex Edwards, Sarah Foster, Jen

Goble, Colleen Kustura, Nikki Luby, Shima Nooryzadeh, Yesenia Ocampo,

Natalie Peterson, Jade Redmond, Brianna Smith, Giana Sortino, Brooke

Thompson and Katie Welch.
