Laguna Surf and Sport rolls onward

Laguna Surf and Sport collected three more victories in postseason

play as they beat Sportsworld, 19-5, Rotary, 13-2, and Hobie, 6-2.

Caine Fair opened up Surf and Sport’s scoring onslaught with a

three-run home run in the first inning. His knock scored both Dalton Sype

and Michael Tachovsky, each of whom singled.

Singles by Christian Bosworth and John Wes Robinson set up Shane

Snyder’s two-RBI double.

Surf and Sport tagged on four more runs in the second inning as Alex

Garakian, Sype and Tachovsky all singled, Fair delivered an RBI double,

Bosworth hit an RBI single, and Robinson joined the home run club by

smashing a two-run shot over the center field fence to bring the score to

8-1.

Philip Le Bon’s double in the third frame scored Matt Miller and Jaime

Melchor, both of whom singled. Sype concluded the inning’s scoring with

an RBI single.

In the Surf and Sport fourth Fair and Bosworth racked up third third

hits of the game with a double and single, respectively, and walks by

Robinson and Miller forced home a run.

The scoring continued with Nikko Okomoto-Coen’s RBI ground out and a

single by Melchor and a fielding error led to three more runs.

Surf and Sport scored its final four runs in the fifth inning on an

RBI single by Fair, an RBI by Robinson and a two-run single by Snyder.

Sportsworld had taken a 1-0 lead in its first at-bat on Joe Meehan’s

RBI single. They scored four runs in the fourth inning behind a double by

Shane Springer, a single by Meehan, an RBI double by Taylor Brusky, a

two-run scoring double by James Borgesy, who later stole home.

Tachovsky notched the pitching win, gaining 10 strikeouts.

Surf and Sport 13, Rotary 2

Surf and Sport’s Michael Tachovsky broke open a scoreless game with a

third inning RBI single, which scored Jaime Melchor for a 1-0 lead. Chris

Bosworth then padded the lead to 3-0 with a two-run double, and John Wes

Robinson’s towering, three-run home run off the outfield scoreboard upped

the advantage to 6-0.

Rotary retaliated in the top-half of the fourth when Roy Herbert’s

single scored Nick Witte and Chris Smith delivered an RBI to trim the

deficit to 6-2.

Surf and Sport went up, 10-2 with a four-run fourth. Bosworth hit his

fourth home run of the year in an inning that also saw Matt Miller steal

home and Shane Snyder hit a run-scoring double.

Dalton Sype, Cain Fair and Bosworth all scored in the fifth inning to

put the score at 13-2.

Laguna Surf & Sport 6, Hobie 2

Cain Fair belted a three-run home run and picked up an RBI single,

Nikko Okomoto-Coen had an RBI single and John Wes Robinson had an RBI to

power Surf & Sport.

Outstanding play in the field backed the pitching performance of

Michael Tachovsky, who went the distance and notched the win.

Rotary 11, American Legion 5

Austin Hyden limited American Legion to just five hits and struck out

11 along the way.

Hyden also was a force at the plate as he ripped three singles and had

two RBI.

Nick Witte, Hyden and Chris Smith produced doubles and Lorenzo

Torriero and Roy Herbert hit singles in the third inning as Rotary wiped

out a 3-1 deficit and took a 6-3 lead.

Witte also had a two-run single in the fourth inning.

Hyden, Torriero and Herbert all had key hits in the fifth inning to

make it an 11-4 game.

Jordan O’Brien singled twice for American Legion and scored his team’s

final run when Max Parmentier singled him home with two out in the sixth

inning.

Dylan McDonald, Jake Killian and Smith all singled for Rotary.

American Legion’s Julian Deline pitched well with nine strikeouts. In

addition to O’Brien’s two hits, Michael Porter and William Burk each

singled to help American Legion take a 3-1 lead in the third inning.
