Thurston Middle School student Shannon Sweeney was honored by the

American Lung Assn. of California during the Clean Air Awards. Sweeney

placed third in the fourth through sixth grade category for her poster

expressing the importance of clean air. . . . Jennifer and Adam Johnson

announced the grand opening of C.J. Rose, a unique clothing boutique. The

collection includes clothing from lines such as Sul Denim, Vintage 501,

Maje of Paris, Marrika Nakk, Kamellia, Sandra McCray, Yemee and Nikki K.

C.J. Rose is in the Lumberyard Mall. . . . Members of the Interact Club

of Laguna Beach High School recently spent a weekend at the Casa de Hogar

Orphanage in the town of El Zorillo, Mexico. The Rotary Club and Interact

were able to donate toys, clothes, hairbrushes and other vital personal

items that are rarities at the orphanage. Interact is a Rotary-sponsored

service club for young people ages 14 to 18, with more than 150,000

members throughout the world. . . . The Laguna Beach Garden Club

installed Linda Moore as president for the 2002-03 year. Other officers

installed were Barbara Marlatt as programs chair, Patricia Weier as

publicity chair, Catherine Hall and Joyce Conway as co-chairs of ways and

means, Polly Dix as membership chair, Shirley Forden as recording

secretary, Jane Cutting as corresponding secretary, Teresa Falcone as
