Author Lawrence G. Townsend and chef Alexx Guevara are teaming up for

a book-signing event at 3 p.m. today at Macy’s South Coast Plaza Home

Store. Townsend is the author of “Secrets of the Wholly Grill,” a novel

about cravings, barbecue and software that has been summed up by J.Thomas

McCarthy, a professor at the University of San Francisco Law School, as

“a delightful satirical caper through the corporate corridors, courtrooms

and clean rooms of the high-tech world.” Chef Alexx will prepare a menu

inspired by the novel’s theme: sirloin tip with wholly grilled barbecue

sauce and frozen Snickers coffee cake. The demonstration is free, and

complimentary samples will be served. Townsend will sign copies of his

novel, which will be available for $25.

The selection of party supplies, invitations and cards is some of the
