Auction raises $60,000 for OCC sailing school

More than 400 people helped raise $60,000 at a boat auction and marine

gear sale for the benefit of Orange Coast College’s School of Sailing and

Seamanship on June 1.

The annual event was held at the school’s Newport Beach facility and

featured an assortment of such maritime items as boats, kayaks, rowing

sculls, sails, rigging, life rafts, dinghies, outboards and electronic

equipment.

The school is at 1801 W. Coast Highway, between the Balboa Bay Club

and the Orange County Sea Scout Base.

The school is accepting donations for next year’s auction, which will

be held on May 31.
